Bus Companies Celebrates Award Success
Today, staff at bus depots & offices across the UK are celebrating after great success at the UK Bus Awards last night in London and operators in our region have a lot to celebrate too.
The award ceremony, which takes place every year, started off in 1996 as the Bus Industry Awards but was rebranded in 2005 and is now in it's 13th year.
Go North East are celebrating after they won the CBS Outdoor Bus Marketing Compaign Of The Year Award for their Red Kites bus route & branding. With it's red exterior with the big eye on the side, the judges said the route won for 'winning new customers by bringing conservation and a service branding strategy together'. The judges were impressed with how Go North East had won new customers onto the routes buses, replacing car journeys on the roads of Newcastle & Gateshead. Go North East invested in new buses and branding for routes 45/45A/46 and judges at the awards say investment has paid off with significant growth in passengers numbers & revenue generated from the branding.
Phil Southall was nominated and was runner up for Centrebus Young Manager of the Year award. Go North East were also highly commended for the Alexander Dennis Innovation award (won by Cumbria County Council for the NoWcard Multi smartcard) for their Txt2Go Mobile Ticketing solution. Accepting his award, Brian Souter said: “This is a real honour and I feel very humbled and privileged to be considered for this award.
