Changes To 7 & 28 Day Go North East Tickets

From Wednesday 26th October 2011, Go North East will be changing the way you buy 7 and 28 day Buzzfare and Get Around bus tickets on the bus.

28 day tickets will no longer be sold on the bus, tickets will only be sold online via the Go North East website where passengers can get a 10% discount or by calling the operators helpline. Additionally 28 day tickets will no longer be printed on paper and instead are issued on 'The Key' smartcard which can be used & topped up all the time.

7 day tickets will still be sold on the bus but can only be "topped up" on 'The Key' smartcard. 'Topped-up' is basically renewing a ticket already on The Key. To be able to topup you need to buy your first ticket on your key online or by telephone. After that you can renew your ticket by topping up on bus. Unfortunately you can't buy new tickets for the first time with a key smartcard on the bus. Paper tickets will eventually be withdrawn for 7 day tickets but will still be available for the next 6 months whilst people sign up & get used to 'The Key'.

Buying tickets on the key smartcard either on the bus or online is quicker, easier and more secure than using paper tickets. The key smartcard stores your ticket securely and if you lose it we can switch it off and give you a replacement transferring any tickets to your new key.
