Bus Design Competition With Go North East
***Story From Go North East***
Go North East is offering the chance for customers to win a prize by rebranding and renaming one of their popular bus routes in Gateshead.
The 69/69A "Kingfisher" service runs between Wardley and Winlaton each day and along the way takes in several nature parks which is where the original Kingfisher link came in following the success of the Company's famous Red Kite bus service brand.
Now, Go North East is enhancing the service to serve the Metrocentre providing direct links from East Gateshead. Keen on a fresh approach for the livery so they are inviting customers to come forward with ideas for names, logos and messages to use on the new service. They're particularly keen to hear from local schools and youth groups and hear their ideas. The best ideas will be taken forward and prizes will be awarded to the winner or winners.

Martin Harris, Commercial Director of Go North East, said: "The Kingfisher service needs a shake-up and the branding has had its day. We like to involve the community in our service brands and we want to hear from people who have ideas about livery and name. We're happy to take these ideas forward as we believe that local people should have a say in the look and feel of their local services. It'll be a chance for people to see their ideas every day across Gateshead as the buses travel the route and we're also awarding prizes for the best ideas. If that best idea comes from a school or youth club or project then we'll be delighted to invest the prize into equipment for the group".
The 69/69A Kingfisher service operates from Wardley - Leam Lane - Felling Square - Queen Elizabeth Hospital - Low Fell - Lobley Hill - Whickham - Swalwell - Blaydon – to Winlaton each day. The new route of the 69A from 30 October will serve Metrocentre and Wellington Road in Dunston and Deckham in place of service 187.
